Spring Sandals

I just love these J Crew sandals and recently bought myself the black pair. The open toe makes me feel like warmer weather is on its way, yet the fact that it has a backing and looks a little more polished then your average sandal or flip flop, allows you to wear these in some many ways, as well as on days when the sun might be out but there is still a little chill in the air.

Chloe Elle Bag

I’ll admit it, I have a thing for bags – and by thing I mean I have a deep and abiding love for them! I have learnt over the last couple of years that bags and the odd gorgeous ballet flat, are the things in my wardrobe that I’m willing to invest money on. For this reason I’m really careful about the bags I buy and only pull the trigger when I know I can see myself still loving the bag for many years to come. I also make sure that any new bag I buy fills some sort of gap in my wardrobe, whether it be color, size, how and when I’ll wear it etc – so that my growing collection doesn’t all look or feel the same.

What I love about this Chloe bag is that although it is a classic black color, the shape is different enough to set it apart. I also love how it can be worn over the shoulder, as a cross body or as a clutch, with the front hand strap.

Drugstore Finds

I loved reading this article about different Beauty Editors and their favourite drug store buys. When I first moved to San Francisco one of my favourite things to do was to peruse the aisles of Walgreens & CVS. I couldn’t believe the range and great prices and even now I still buy my face cleanser, nail polish, body moisturiser and so much more, from drugstores!

Here are some of my fav current drug store finds:

I have really sensitive skin & this cleanser is so gentle but get the job done!

Curave-Moisturizing-LotionEven though this is the same brand as my face cleanser, I only recently started using this as my body moiturizer after having some skin irritations and was recommended by my dermatologist to give it a try.. It was hard to give up all my ‘sweet smelling’ ones, but this really calms my skin while leaving it

I fell in love with these from the moment I tried them. The colours look vibrant but are actually soft when applied due to their ‘balmy’ nature. the fact that they’re SPF 20 and come in lots of cloours doesn’t hurt either!

Essie is one of my favourite nail polish brands (along with Opi) and they both can be found drugstores – in a rainbow of colours.

Fendi Peitit 2jours Bag

The bag that I’m lusting after right now is the Fendi Petit 2jours. It’s the perfect size to carry around all day as it’s not too heavy and can fit so much in it considering it’s ‘petit’ size. This bag can be dressed up or down, can go from day to night and comes in so many colours that everyone can find one they’ll love! I also think that due to its perfect sizing and understated branding that this bag will be a timeless piece that will work with almost everything in your wardrobe.

Let the saving begin!

Lentil & Spinach Soup

During these last few months with the colder weather I’ve been loving warming up with hearty soups. I’ve always loved pea and ham (my Nan & Mum always made it in winter) but lately I’ve been loving lentil & spinach soup from Whole Foods. Freshly made with no preservatives it’s whole food that has that ‘homemade’ feel to it.

So with that homemade feel in mind I want to make some Lentil & Spinach soup of my own & have found a really great recipe:

Lentil & Spinach Soup

  • 5oz (141 gms) packets Organic Spinach
  • 1/2 cup chopped Onions
  • teaspoon minced Garlic
  • 1/4 cup chopped Carrots
  • 1/4 cup  Lentils
  • 4-6 cups Organic Chicken or Vegetable Stock
  • teaspoons Tomato Paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sumac
  • 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Freshly Ground Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • teaspoons Fresh Lemon Juice
  • sprig Fresh Italian Parsley

  1. Sauté chopped onions & minced garlic in extra virgin olive oil.
  2. Add chopped carrots; let the carrot cook for few minutes.
  3. Add lentils & sauté some more.
  4. Add the chicken stock.
  5. Add tomato paste & stir well. Add sumac, paprika, salt & pepper.
  6. Let the soup simmer on low heat for 30-40 minutes until lentils are tender.
  7. Serve hot with freshly squeezed lemon juice & chopped fresh parsley!

I love it when you find that Ikea piece that looks way more expensive then it actually and blends in with the rest of your place seamlessly

Oscars 2015

I love watching the oscars and never miss it every year. But let’s be honest, I basically love any awards show, that has a good red carpet! I’ll be watching the show and critiquing all the dresses from the safety of my couch and jims jams! There will be food involved of course, probably popcorn (it’s a food group in our house) and no boubt some form of comfort food.

Enjoy the show on Sunday!
